The president of FAPESC (Research Foundation of the State of Santa Catarina), professor Diomário Queiroz was on the morning of Tuesday, 22, visiting the headquarters of the Nursery School Office Social Consultant in Areias de Cima, Biguaçu. In space, the NGO national in scope, develop environmental education activities, training of youth for income generation, besides producing seedlings of native Atlantic Forest Biome.


Besides Diomário professor, who has been Rector of UFSC and Secretary of State for Science and Technology, the delegation was composed of the directors and Zenório Piana Zilene Cardoso, Marcia Hoeltgbaum addition, the project coordinator FAPESC. The delegation was received by the directors of ICS, Neto Octalício, Rúbia Strapazzon Gularte and Eve who made the presentation of various activities and projects under development in the Nursery School Biguaçu.

After visiting the facilities and meet the 60 species of plants native to the Atlantic, Professor Diomário Queiroz and his team have shown great interest in developing a lasting partnership with the Institute CS. For the president of FAPESC, who confesses a love for native species such as jacaranda, in its bloom and beauty, the work in Areias de Cima is essential not only for the local socio-environmental recovery, but also to contribute to the development of economic activities such as landscaping with native species, in addition to not negatively impact the nature, generate direct income for communities.

Professor Diomário Queiroz sees great potential in the work of the ICS for financing projects and establishing partnerships with national research bodies and even international, as well as universities in actions which may have practices developed by the NGO, rich material for research and development of technologies related to environment and society as a whole.
